What Hunter is known for
Hunter's core product finds email addresses for people at a given company; verification is built in so a found address can be checked in the same flow. They've published a notably transparent benchmark with a disclosed methodology and even an admitted bias in their own favor - genuinely more candor than most of this category shows, and worth acknowledging rather than dismissing.
Where EMCHEQ is actually different
- Verification is the whole product, not a companion feature. If you already have the list and just need it checked - at signup, before a send, or in bulk - that's the entire focus here.
- We say Unknown when we mean it. Catch-all domains and unresponsive servers are reported honestly, with the reason, rather than resolved into a confident score.
- Mail security bundled in. DMARC/SPF/DKIM checks and phishing simulation alongside verification, in one account.
- A free tier sized to actually test on. 100 verifications a month, no card, on your real list.
Where we don't win - said plainly
If you need to find addresses you don't already have - prospecting, not just verifying a list you've collected - that's not what EMCHEQ does, and Hunter's core product is built for exactly that. We also don't have anything like Hunter's published benchmark spreadsheet yet; their transparency there is a genuine, earned advantage.
The actual way to decide
If you're prospecting - finding addresses, not just checking ones you have - Hunter's core product fits that job better. If you already have the list and need it verified, test both verifiers on your own real data and compare the results, not the claimed accuracy.
